Four Day Trip



Day 1
A sightseeing and shopping tour of ACCRA– Ghana’s political and administrative capital. A typical African city with a blend of colonial and modern images in the form of colourful markets and some impressive architecture.


We will visit, the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre for Pan African Culture, the National Museum, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and the University of Ghana. Ghana’s Premier University.


Lunch is at an African style restaurant and the afternoon is spent shopping at the Makola market and the Arts and Craft Bazaar at the Centre for National Culture.


We can get good buys of the popular "Kente" cloth fabrics, carvings. leather goods and jewelry, as well as a host of other souvenir items depending on bargaining prowess. vernight at Novotel Accra (or similar)


Day 2
An early start after breakfast takes us 270km north of Accra, to the ASHANTI REGION the home of the famous Ashanti people and the heart of Ghanaian culture.

The tour displays the legacy of the legends which are evident today and visitors will see the sword planted in the earth some 200 years ago by Okomfo Anokye, the great fetish priest of Ashanti, signifying the unity of the Ashanti nation, and which nothing and no one has been able to pull out to this day.


A visit to the National Cultural Centre and Manhyia Palace will be made in the late afternoon. vernight at one of the small hotels in the city (100 kms)


Day 3
We will experience culture at its best. We will also have the opportunity to tour the 3 famous Ashanti Craft Villages –AHWIA home of the famed fertility doll, NTONSO-Home of "Andinka" cloth and Ashanti symbolism and BONWIRE-the home of the rich and colourful Kente Cloth.


We continue south to the Cape Coast Region of Ghana with its famous and infamous Forts and Castles which dot the coastline.Three of the buildings have been identified by UNESCO as World Heritage Monuments. Picnic lunch will be taken on the way

If time allows we will visit KAKUM NATURE PARK before arriving at Cape Coast. The park is well known for its tree top hanging walkway situated in an area of the rapidly shrinking rain forest.Overnight at a Cape Coast Hotel. (300 kms)

Day 4
We visit the ELMINA and CAPE COAST Castles in the historic area to which Europeans first came in 1471.

The colonial capital of Ghana and the Cape Coast castles tells a story of trade in slaves as well as conflicts between the Europeans and the people on the coast.


Discover the dungeons where the first ever and largest instance of forced migration in the world started and which will unfold to us, a history whose impact has been, and is still felt beyond the shores of Ghana.We then continue east to Accra for Overnight at Novotel (or similar) lunch will be taken on the way.
