Day 1
We start early and proceed directly by road to JANJANGBUREH, passing through various villages on the way. From the North Bank of the River we travel to Janjanbureh, and then continue directly to our camp in the Janjanbureh area, which is basic but comfortable and beautifully situated by the River itself. On the way we make a short stop at the old "Slave House" and have the opportunity for a short walk around the town.
After lunch and some relaxation, we take a slow late afternoon boat ride along the river leading east to take in the beautiful surroundings, having the possibility to see baboons hanging on the tree branches along the river banks and a great chance to see hippos at a safe distance. A real African Experience.
After dinner, we will be entertained by dancers from a neighbouring village.
Day 2
On the second day we take an early morning optional Bird Walk around the accommodation before breakfast after which we will embark on our 3 hours river trip around various inlets and islands of this fabulous area of nature where most amazing birds including kites, rollers, geese, Fish-eagles, hornbills, parrots, kingfishers, buzzards, etc. can be seen along with Monkeys and often sightings of Baboons, Crocodiles and Hippos are reported.
Very reasonably priced drinks are available from the bar and lunch is served on board, after which we continue our cruise down river where our transport will be waiting to take us to Kaolack in Senegal. Dinner & Overnight at Kaolack.
Day 3
The time after breakfast on the third day offers the opportunity for a trip around the town of Kaolack by horse and cart, the age old means of transport in this part of Africa. Lunch at the hotel and transfer back to the Gambia border stopping at a couple of villages on the way, arriving at the hotel area by 5:30 – 6:00pm following an interesting ferry trip.
